Just a Piece of Wood

One piece of wood.  Have you ever considered what one piece of wood could be used for?  Possibly to make a shelf, a baseball bat, a cane, a garden stake or whatever your imagination can come up with.  In the Bible we read of how many lives were saved by clinging to one piece of wood when their ship was destroyed near the island of Malta.  The Bible records this in Acts, Chapter 27.   Here is what verses 43 & 44 tell us: "But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land"  "And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land."

Paul had received knowledge from God that all the men would be spared if they followed what Paul told them. 

There is also a piece of wood that we all can cling to today.  The Cross of Christ!  Jesus died on that piece of wood for all of us.  Sometimes something so small can make the difference between being lost forever and being found forever.
