A Good Name
Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and
loving favour rather than silver and gold.” Here Solomon is making it clear by Inspiration from God that we should chose to make our name a good, upstanding name. We should choose to be righteous before God instead of choosing to be only concerned about how much wealth we can accumulate. Also, God is telling us that we should love favor with God over silver and gold. “Loving favour” means to desire special standing with God over anything else this world has to offer including silver and gold. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 19:24, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." In this case, Jesus was applying the Scripture of Proverbs 22:1. There is no Scripture condemning being rich, only that if riches are more favored than righteousness with God, then riches is your god, not the God of the Bible.
Ask Yourself:
Who is my TRUE GOD? Is my name a good name and in who's eyes,
God's or man? Till
