A Thought to Ponder Sacrifice We all know what a sacrifice is.
Sometimes we sacrifice paying one bill so we can pay another as
the money may be short that month.
We have all heard of the animal sacrifices made by various
religions across the world.
The majority of us would sacrifice our own life to save a spouse or
child. But, do we honestly
know anything about being a sacrifice for God? Paul in Romans Chapter 12 tells us the following:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that
you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God,
which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God”. Have we ever taken the time to really understand
what this means? What does
it mean to be a “living sacrifice”?
Most sacrifices mentioned in the Bible and elsewhere pertain to
something that is either dead or going to die.
Here Paul through the Holy
Spirit of God Himself is telling us, actually begging us to be “living
sacrifices”. This means we
are to present ourselves in our daily lives to the world as a person,
who though they are still alive, have decided to die through Christ and
be a living example of Him. To be a living sacrifice, we must present ourselves
differently than those around us who are lost (unsaved) and be something
they would desire to be and have.
One may be rich or poor, either position in life has no meaning
to God. He expects us to
present Jesus through our lives.
To be a living sacrifice means to be totally committed always,
not just when we are in Church or gathered around other like-minded
people. We must be willing
to sacrifice ALL for the Lord.
This life will pass away, only eternity will remain.
Paul made his choice.
