Why are some preachers considered to be false teachers?

The easiest and shortest answer is, they do not teach the True and Complete Word of God!  That's the short of it but more explanation is certainly due.  The Bible warned us about false prophets and false teachers in Matthew 7:15 where Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."  What Jesus meant by this was simple. What we are to do is to judge the words of the preacher against the Word of God.  If we see that there is a slant to the teaching....beware!

Let's look at some examples of what I am talking about.  A closer look at the big "Word of Faith" churches all filled with two kinds of peoples.  The first being folks who have great jobs, a goodly sum of money, savings in the bank, stocks and bonds and are already prosperous. The other folks are those who have relatively low income jobs with no substantial savings of any kind, no stocks and bonds and are living from paycheck to paycheck if not already on welfare. You seldom see the middle class folks in these churches.  The first group of people, the prosperous ones, can easily believe in the "Word of Faith" concept simply because when they need something, it is easy for them to believe they can acquire or accomplish their goal because they can already afford it.  They see no hindrances to this type of action.  The second group of people, the low income ones, are looking for something more in their lives.  They desire to become prosperous and when they see all these huge churches with all these prosperous people in them, the want what the others have so the join the church and follow the teaching of the "Word of Faith" preacher, but unfortunately they never see those riches fall upon them.  Now don't get me wrong....there are some who are blessed by God and do prosper, but the percentage of people in the mega churches who went in poor, remain poor and eventually, either leave for another church or fall away from church completely.

Preachers and teachers who are called "false teachers" have a unique ability to sound like they are sincere about their faith but the bottom line is they are sincere about their own particular well being and prosperity.  This particular type of preachers and teachers preach primarily about personal growth, personal well being, personal prosperity, and other feel good ideals or whatever it takes to make you the person in the pew, feel good about yourself.  While this is in itself, not a completely bad thing, the part that is missing is that we all all sinners, saved by grace.  We all need to understand that God is a good God, a faithful God, a loving God, a positive God, a unique God, a understanding God, a feel good God, a forgiving God, a saving God, a want you to be happy God, a want you to prosper God, a righteous God, but that He is also an expectant God, a God of rules, a God with standards, a God who judges, a vengeful God, a punishing God and more.  The false teachers never teach the second set we have mentioned here because they do not want to offend anyone.  They want you to have that overwhelming feel good feeling which is nice, but not enough.  You have to know and understand the balance, the other side, the good and bad, the dark and light.  Without darkness, how would we understand light,  without bad how would we know evil.  If we never have heard that sin is bad and the result of sin is death, then how can we ever really understand salvation.

Remember no-one can earn their way into heaven, no-one can enter heaven based on their wealth, no-one can enter heaven because they were always positive and joyous, no-one can enter heaven because they showed love to everyone they met, no-one can enter heaven just because they never sinned in the eyes of their preacher. The only way to enter heaven is by admitting that you are a sinner and wish to turn from your wicked ways and accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Jesus said it so plainly in the Book of John, chapter 14, verse 6 where it says, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me".  In the book of Romans, Chapter 10, verses 9 and 10 it says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

So what I am saying here is this.  If your preacher doesn't teach the pure, unadulterated Word of God, speak to him about it, and if nothing changes then find a new church that teaches the Bible and the Bible in whole not in part.

Below is a list of some really hard to believe sayings by some very famous preachers.  See for yourself the nonsense these people expect you to believe.  These preachers while spreading these false doctrines, are living "high on the hog" as the old saying goes. They have no trouble taking your hard earned money to support their extravagant lifestyles, while leading you down a path of destruction.

"This is recently. I’m not talking about a long time ago. He was about six feet two. Old man. Had a beard. White-like Norvelles jacket. Glistening white beard. His face was somewhat thin. But, very bold! Eyes - crystal blue. He had on a white garment; whiter than my shirt could ever get. On his head was a shawl, like a, like a covering. He looked like a priest. Every part of him glistened like crystal. And I spoke out and I said, ‘Lord, who is this man I see?’ I know you may, you may think I lost my mind, but the Lord said, ‘Elijah, the prophet!’ - Benny Hinn, (Excerpted from message presented at the Blaisdale Arena, Honolulu, HI, 2/28/97).

God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will lift a hand against this network and this ministry that belongs to You, God. It is Your work, it is Your idea, it is Your property, it is Your airwaves, it is Your world, and we proclaim death to anything that would stand in the way of God's great voice of proclamation to the whole world. In the Name of Jesus, and all the people said Amen! - Paul Crouch of TBN Television Network

“Scripture teaches that receiving Christ as your personal Savior does not necessarily make you a son of God, but if you choose to do so, the power (authority) and right to do so is present. ... Just being saved does not make you a son of God, ...only those who are willing to be led by the Spirit actually realize and manifest the sonship of God.” - T.D. Jakes

They are dying to everything of the flesh.   They are dying to everything of self.  They are dying to every ambition. . .Receive this prophecy!  God is going to take us into the spirit world, into a new strategic level of warfare prayer.   When you receive this revelation, there's not going to be one power of the enemy that will be able to stand before what God will put in your spirit and life.  You will never be defeated in your prayers again!" - Morris Cerullo

If Buddhists and Yoga practitioners can accomplish their objectives through fourth dimensional powers, then Christians should be able to accomplish much more by using the same means. - (Paul Yonggi Cho, The Fourth Dimension, vol. 1 (South Plainfield, NJ: Bridge Publishing, 1979), 37, 41)

…I had a man say, "You look so prosperous."  I said, "Well, I'm backed by a very rich Jew. Yeah!! Yes, I am! His Name is Jesus. I'm backed by Him." - (Jesse Duplantis, Trinity Broadcasting Network, September 21, 1998)

"I want you to know how wonderful Jesus is. Right in the middle of the wedding came there to me and said, 'I don't mean to interrupt you,' and told me what to do today just as plain, plainer than I'm speaking to you right now, said it up in my spirit, said to me, 'I want you to teach them on healing.' In my spirit said that to me." (Rod Parsley Audio, "The Double Cure Of Calvary.")

Folks,  these are but a few of the untold thousands of ridiculous quotes from just a few of the many men and women who claim to be "called of God".  Please read your Bible....do not be mislead....challenge the teachings of those you follow.
