If your Bible kept a diary, I pray yours doesn't look like this one. February: MY owner used me for a few minutes the other day. He was having an argument with his wife and was checking for references! March: Grandpa visited us, and I got to sit on his lap for a full hour as he read me to his grandchildren. April: I got to go to church for the first time this year .... on Easter Sunday. May: I have a few stains on my pages; they put some pressed flowers between my pages. June: I look like a scrapbook. They stuffed me fill of clippings. One of the girls got married. July: I had a busy day last week. My owner was appointed as the leader of something, so he laid his hand on me and promised he would do a good job. August: they threw me into a suitcase today. I guess we're going on vacation. September: Back home again and finally out of that stuffy old suitcase! October: They used me a little bit today. One of them is sick and I think that the pastor is coming over to pray. November: Back on the shelf again with lots of company on top of me, including copies of Sports Illustrated and Reader's Digest. I wish that I could get read just half as much as they do! December: I think they're going to take me to Christmas service at church. I wonder if our Bibles kept a diary, what they would say about us. excerpt from the Book: Unlocking the Bible by Jeff Lasseigne. |
