A Thought to Ponder
by Pastor Wise

Getting Comfortable?

This week I wish to explain to those who might not know or understand why I write these short articles.  My goal and intention is to get people to think.  I pray these short devotions make you think about your Christian life, and to think about your Christian walk.  So many times we get comfortable in our walk with the Lord which can be very detrimental to our lives.  What exactly do I mean by “comfortable”?

When we get comfortable, we find ourselves proclaiming to be Christians, followers of the Risen Lord Jesus but not living to any extent that proclamation.  Jesus told us to take up our cross and follow him daily.  When we are comfortable, we tend to forget that part of the Bible.  We tend to just play the part.  We do not apply Jesus to our everyday lives whether it be our working life, church time, or in our personal time.

Jesus had something to say about this in His Word.  In Revelations 3:15-17, Jesus said: “ 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked”.

I would beseech all of us to re-examine ourselves, to re-evaluate ourselves to see if we might be cold, hot or just lukewarm for the Lord.  Receive these words I write to you as a token of my love for you as children of the Living God.  Your soul is important to me and to God.

Ask yourself:  If I am comfortable (lukewarm), am I willing to confess it and change?  If you cannot honestly answer that question, please email me.  I am here to help you in your walk with the Lord.

To those who can honestly say: “Yes, I am alive and on fire for God”, Praise the Lord.  Help those you know who might be struggling with this question.

May God Bless and Keep You

The Watchman
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold
their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence.
